Grants to Small Business

Owners of small business, licensed artists, crafts producers and commercial renewable resource harvesters can earn income and contribute to the economic activity in their community, if they are supported in key areas.

This support, however, is often not available through funding programs designed for larger operations.

The Grant to Small Business Program provides small grants to individual entrepreneurs or small businesses that have a legitimate need for funds and are committed to the future of their business or activity. The maximum lifetime amount any recipient may receive is $5,000.

Grants may be provided to help cover:

  • Immediate problems involving legal or accounting expenses
  • Required minor capital expenditures or extraordinary costs which, if not provided, may threaten the continued viability of the business.
  • Minor capital items where required and beneficial and where other sources of funding are unavailable
  • The purchase of tools and equipment for arts and crafts producers or renewable resource harvesters.
