Starting in July 2009, ECE Service Centres and ITI will be offering a new program to assist northern employers and immigrants. The NTNP is an employer-driven process that can assist in recruiting and retaining foreign workers. The program also helps foreign workers and their families make NWT their permanent home.
Applicants can be nominated for permanent residency under one of four program categories:
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is responsible for the Entrepreneur and Self-Employed Business categories of NTNP.

Individuals nominated by the GNWT are eligible to have their application fast-tracked for permanent residency through CIC. Final authority rests solely with CIC to issue permanent residency.
The Entrepreneur program provides an opportunity for immigrants who start a business in the NWT to receive permanent residency status. The self-employed category of the Nominee Program is designed to attract professionals who can provide a service that is in demand in the NWT by establishing business outlets or professional practices.
