On November 2, 2017 members of the Northwest Territories growing tourism industry gathered to celebrate their own.  The NWT Tourism Gala and Awards were held in the Inuvik at the Midnight Sun Complex following the NWT Tourism AGM and showcased all that the territory has on offer.

Inuvik’s Drummers set the beat and the Inuvik Dancers taught those in attendance how to dance.

NWT Park’s operator Lucy Simon of Sambaa Deh Territorial Park was recognized for her amazing hospitality and was presented her award by Industry, Tourism and Investment Minister, Wally Schumann.

Other award winners included the Service Excellence Award: Mary Tapsell, Guide for My Backyard Tours, Operator of the Year: Yellow Dog Lodge and the Lifetime Achievement Award: Marion Lavigne, acknowledging over 40 years of a positive legacy and significant contribution to NWT’s growing tourism industry.

This year’s award recipients are prime examples of the commitment to having a vibrant tourism industry in the NWT.  ITI’s Parks Hospitality Award program was created in 2005 to recognize those individuals who go above and beyond and make the NWT a spectacular place to visit.
