National Tourism Week begins today and there is plenty to celebrate in the Northwest Territories (NWT)!

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment would like to say a big THANK YOU to the skilled, passionate and dedicated men and women  who exemplify what it means to be a great NWT Host 365 days of the year.

It is thanks to our vibrant hospitality workforce that tourism in the NWT has grown to a record-breaking $200 million industry in 2016/17.

We’re celebrating Tourism Week in many ways. Scroll down for a full listing of the NWT Host Contest, training opportunities and events.

NWT Host Contest

A good NWT host will explain to visitors why sunscreen still needs to be applied at 11pm in the summer, offer to take photos to help travelers avoid those awkward-angled selfies and provide tips to survive a first outhouse experience!

Do you know a great NWT host? Nominate them on social media with #NWTHost to win them $250! Contest ends June 1. Click here for more details.

NorthernMost Host Training

Sign up for one of our condensed 2-hour long NorthernMost Host Training Sessions. All participants will receive a business sign in Mandarin and Cantonese in recognition of 2018 as the year of China Canada Tourism!
