This is Global Entrepreneurship Week and the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is joining voices across the country in saluting entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurs in the Northwest Territories enhance our vibrant communities by providing new job opportunities and greater economic diversity — and serve to contribute millions in economic benefits each year.

The Government of the Northwest Territories is proud to support entrepreneurship with investment, mentorship, and support through various programs and services offered across economic sectors.

The official host of this year's initiative in Canada is Futurpreneur — a Non-Governmental Organization which partners with agencies across the country to provide mentorship and funding to young entrepreneurs.

In 2015, the NWT Business Development and Investment Corporation began a partnership with Futurpreneur

The partnership has facilitated several well-attended workshops to focus the entrepreneurial spirit of young upstarts in the North and build the skills necessary to succeed.

Young Northern entrepreneurs can access support or more information on these innovative programs from the BDIC’s office located on 5201-50th Avenue in Yellowknife.

This work supports the GNWT's mandate, which contains commitments to enhance business development in arts, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, fisheries, and traditional economy.

Global Entrepreneurship Week runs from November 14-20.
