On November 1, 2017 Prospecting Permit Applications submitted in person to the Mining Recorder’s Office starting at 8:30am are given first priority on a first come, first served basis.

Individuals waiting to position themselves to submit Prospecting Permit Applications to the Mining Recorder’s Office must line up at:
51st Street – NW corner of the Scotia Centre Building adjacent to the parking lot
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
At 8:30am on November 1, a Mining Recorder’s Office representative will issue a numeric document that will identify your priority. Do not misplace this document as you must present it in order to be served by the Office. Applicants will then be escorted to the Mining Recorder’s Office and served in order of the number received. Anyone who does not have a number will not be served until they acquire a one. Abandoning your position in line will affect the numeric priority in which you are served.
Prospecting Permit applicants queue at their own risk: the GNWT will accept no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any damages, injuries or loss incurred including but not limited to those due to weather conditions.

In person applications on November 1 will receive first priority; however, individuals may also mail applications to the Mining Recorder’s Office: Suite 207, Scotia Centre 2nd Floor, 5102, 50th Avenue, P.O. Box 1320, Yellowknife NT, X1A 2L9.
If issued, a Prospecting Permit provides exclusive rights to the applicant to prospect and stake mineral claims within the permit zone for a period of three or five years. Permit applications are accepted by the Mining Recorder’s Office until November 30, 2017 at 4:00pm.
