YELLOWKNIFE (NOVEMBER 14, 2017) — Wally Schumann , Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment issued the following statement celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week:

“From bush-bound prospectors, to tour operators sharing our spectacular territory, entrepreneurs have always been at the heart of our territory’s economic progress.

Entrepreneurs and their ideas provide employment opportunities for our people, they create economic diversity to balance the ups and down of the resource economy and they help make our communities great places to live.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a good time to take stock and recognize the importance of these contributions.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is responsible for developing, promoting and sustaining economic opportunities. This responsibility is top of mind as we deliver targeted policies, programs and funding initiatives, while working in partnership with organizations such as the Business Development and Investment Corporation and Community Futures Organizations.

I would like to join countless others across the globe this week in saluting entrepreneurs, their ideas, and their spirit, and voice our government’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship.”
