Pingos, salt plains, and ice roads were just a few of the secrets that Canadians discovered about the Northwest Territories (NWT) this year thanks to an innovative marketing campaign introduced by NWT Tourism.
Last night the Discover our Secrets campaign received some well-deserved national recognition at the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) gala. It was nominated for the Social Media Initiative of the Year award. Although they didn’t take home the title, the success of the campaign surpassed all expectations.
The campaign resulted in:
- 367% increase in visitation to spectacularnwt.com
- 42% increase in Facebook page likes
- 192% increase in Twitter followers
- 63% increase in Instagram followers
Timely and innovative marketing campaigns like Discover Our Secrets serve to support the goals of the GNWT’s Tourism 2020 plan to grow visitor and spending numbers in the NWT. The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment provides support for tourism marketing to NWT Tourism, the territory’s destination marketing organization.
