Tourism Week Kicks off Across the Northwest Territories

Tourism is being celebrated this week across the Northwest Territories (NWT) with a number of exciting events in all five regions.

With radio contests, open houses, barbecues, prize draws, tours, and local promotions, there is no shortage of opportunities for NWT residents to celebrate Tourism Week in the territory.

NWT Tourism is also challenging people to add captions to spectacular photos from the NWT’s five regions for a chance to win one of five NWT travel packages. View full contest details here.

The celebrations come in the wake of a banner year for NWT tourism. The sector surpassed the goal for industry value set in Tourism 2015 — the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s last strategic tourism plan — by more than $15 million, with prominent increases in spending on Aurora viewing, outdoor adventure, and friends and family visits.

With so much to celebrate, it’s no surprise to see the energy building for the week’s festivities.
