The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment was a key sponsor of the annual World Shore Lunch Championship June 4th, 2016 at the Northern Frontier Visitor Centre in Yellowknife.

While Fresh Fish from Great Slave Lake was a featured product, the event also marked the conclusion of tourism week in the NWT and offered a celebration, for visitors and residents alike, of our unique northern environment and its exceptional resources.

The NWT’s unique tourism product, offers the potential for more direct and indirect economic opportunity in each region and community in the NWT.

Direct and indirect benefits from tourism are far reaching but growth in this sector is dependent on attracting new markets, developing new products, and engaging more NWT residents into the sector.

ITI’s support and investment for the NWT’s tourism industry is just one part of the GNWT’s mandate and commitment to advance investment in renewable resources and economic diversification.
