The Petroleum Resources Division provides the following:

• Geospatial information on oil and gas rights (dispositions), as well as territory wide and regional reference maps illustrating those oil and gas rights within the context of hydrocarbon potential within the Northwest Territories for public and industry use.
• A reference graphic to understand the oil and gas grid reference system within the Northwest Territories.
• A current view of areas where the Northwest Territories government encourages expressions of interest in areas that are likely to be unconstrained by interim land withdrawals, protected areas or proposed protected areas or land use plans prohibiting or constraining oil and gas exploration and development.
• Geospatial information in map form regarding hydrocarbon potential collected from the Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS).
