Local Wildlife Committee

Local Wildlife Committees play a vital role in the delivery of Government of the Northwest Territories programs in support of traditional harvesting in the NWT.

In addition, these Committees provide important insight, information and advice to the Government on matters relating to wildlife management and the effects of development in their respective regions.

The GNWT provides annual funding to recognized Local Wildlife Committees to help offset administrative costs and to assist in the delivery of related services and support to traditional harvesters in the NWT.

Regional Programs and Services of the Department of Industry Tourism and Investment are delivered through offices in: Yellowknife (North Slave), Fort Smith (South Slave), Norman Wells (Sahtu), Fort Simpson (Dehcho) or Inuvik (Inuvik).
