Input invited to draft a Management Plan to address Capacity Issues at Popular Prelude Lake Park

ITI is seeking public input on a draft Prelude Lake Management Plan (PMP). The plan is in response to issues arising from the increased popularity of the park. The PMP seeks to address some of the major concerns that can affect park users’ enjoyment, including: parking space, all-terrain vehicle use, marina congestion and the need for additional camping space. The PMP outlines suggestions to address these issues, both in the immediate and longer term.

This is a draft plan only and public input will be key in shaping the final plan. READ THE PLAN HERE.

Input on the PMP can be provided via an online survey, available at: www.nwtparks.ca/preludesurvey. Comments and feedback can also be emailed to preludelake@gov.nt.ca.

Tourism is an important part of the Northwest Territories economy and the Department of Industry Tourism and Investment (ITI) works in partnership with Northwest Territories Tourism (NWTT) to promote the Northwest Territories as a “spectacular” world-class tourist destination.

Within the 1.17 million square kilometres of our Spectacular Northwest Territories are a multitude of beautiful parks and campgrounds.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) is responsible for developing, operating and maintaining facilities that include visitor centres and interpretive displays.

Through this department, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) also provides resources and support to the NWT Tourism Industry for marketing, research, training and product development.

The GNWT’s investment and initiatives to develop and expand the tourism industry in the Northwest Territories are outlined in: Tourism 2015: New Directions for a Spectacular Future.
