General Park Services

The Northwest Territories is known for its extensive system of parks.

Through the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment, the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) develops and operates 34 parks.

Most NWT parks are open with services provided, from May 15th to September 15th.  Campsites, day use areas, and kitchen shelters within GNWT parks are available for public use and can be booked on line, at http://www.campingnwt.ca/

NWT parks are divided into four different categories: Heritage Parks, Natural Environment Parks, Recreational Parks and Wayside Parks.

The Northwest Territories is also home to a number of parks in the National Parks System.  Read more
