The nearest visitor information centre is the Western Arctic Regional Visitor Centre in Inuvik. It is well worth a visit for the displays about the whole western Arctic region. On your way south, drop into the Nitainlaii Park Visitor Centre south of Fort McPherson, for a fascinating glimpse of the life of the Gwich'in Dene, past & present. The next nearest NWT parks with camping facilities are located at Jak Park 5 Km to the south of Inuvik on the Dempster Highway; and at Vadzaih Van Tshik Campground, 22 Km to the south of Inuvik, located within Gwich'in Territorial Park. |

Happy Valley Territorial Park office is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, from June 1st to September 1st. Between those dates, you can make reservations by phoning the campsite office directly, at (867) 777 3652. Roads & trails within the park may be accessible on foot outside of the operating season, but they will not be maintained clear of snow, and so you enter at your own risk. Services such as toilets and garbage removal are not provided outside the open season. |
