Jak Territorial Park is located on the Dempster Highway your route to the Arctic Ocean, and beyond. Jak means 'berries' in the Gwich'in language. The park was named for the cranberries, cloud berries & blue berries that are abundant in the area. |

Visit the park's Lookout Tower for a view of the surrounding scenery. The nearest visitor information centre is the Western Arctic Regional Visitor Centre in Inuvik. It is well worth a visit for the displays about the whole western Arctic region. On your way south, drop into the Nitainlaii Park Visitor Centre south of Fort McPherson, for a fascinating glimpse of the life of the Gwich'in Dene, past & present. The next nearest NWT parks with camping facilities is located at Vadzaih Van Tshik Campground, 17 Km to the south, located within Gwich'in Territorial Park |

Territorial Park office is open 24 hours,
7 days a week, from May 15th to September 15th.
Between those dates, you can phone the campsite office directly
to make a booking, at (867) 777-3613. Trails within the park may
be accessible on foot outside of those dates, but they will not
be maintained clear of snow, and so you enter at your own risk.
Services such as toilets and garbage removal are not provided
outside the open season. |
