Little Buffalo River Falls day use area is located approximately 50 Km northwest of Fort Smith on highway #5 and just a short way from the southern Northwest Territories entrance to Wood Buffalo National Park. The site has a kitchen shelter, tables, fire pits and outhouses. A short distance from the site is the boat launch to the Little Buffalo River. A forest fire burned over much of the land around here in 1981. Re-growth has been extremely vigorous , and the park is now just as beautiful as it always was. There are interpretive signs at the park that explain the natural process of regeneration caused by the forest fire. |
