Northwest Territories/Yukon Border Day Use Area is located on the Dempster Highway, your route to the Arctic Ocean, and beyond. Make sure to stop and have your photo taken. And, note that there is a time zone change at the border - set your watch one hour ahead when going north, one hour back when going south.

Attractions & Points of Interest:

The closest visitor centre is the Nitainlaii Centre, located in Nitainlaii Park, 76 km to the north, which provides a fascinating glimpse of the life of the Gwich'in Dene peoples, past & present.

The nearest campground in the NWT is also at Nitainlaii Park.

Once you arrive in Inuvik, stop in at the Western Arctic Regional Visitor Centre. Pick up a

Certificate of the Arctic Circle Chapter, Order of Adventurers

inscribed with your name, & both witnessed & dated.

The Visitor Centre is well worth a visit for the displays about the whole Western Arctic region.

Nearest Gasoline Service is in Fort McPherson Nearest Grocery Service is in Fort McPherson. Dump Station - Nearest is at Happy Valley Park.

Nearest Communities:

Fort McPherson is 85 km to the north.

Operational Season:

Northwest Territories/Yukon Border Day Use Area is open from June 1st to September 1st. The parking area may be accessible on foot outside of those dates, but may not be maintained clear of snow, and so you enter at your own risk.
