Dawson City Visitor Centre
The outside of the Information Centre has been restored to look much the same as it would have 100 years ago

Dempster/Delta Visitor Information Centre is located near the southern start of the Dempster Highway, your route to the Arctic Ocean, and beyond.

The address is Front Street (1st Avenue), at the intersection with King Street, right across the street from the Dawson Information Centre.

The Dempster Highway is the gateway to the Western Arctic; a spectacular land featuring natural & cultural history which is available nowhere else in North America.

Our staff will help you to plan your trip, and provide advice as to highway condition, weather forecasts, and all the other information that will help to make your trip a success.

Dawson City Visitor Centre - Displays
See the displays depicting the adventure of a journey up the Dempster Highway to Inuvik

The visitor centre offers a sampling of some of the arts and crafts that can be found in the communities of the Western Arctic.

It is well worth a visit for the displays depicting the adventure of a journey up the Dempster Highway to Inuvik, and of the whole western Arctic region of Canada.

Like most of downtown Dawson City, the Information Centre is housed in a historic building. Once the ticket office for the British Yukon Navigation Company, that operated a paddle-wheeler steamboat service on the adjacent river. Before that, it was an open shed where freight was assembled or unloaded from the boats. The outside of the building has been restored to look much the same as it would have 100 years ago.
