Western Arctic Regional Visitor Information Centre is located in Inuvik, at the termination of the Dempster Highway, your route to the Arctic Ocean and beyond. It is well worth a visit to the Western Arctic Regional Visitor Centre, for information about the community of Inuvik, and to see the displays about the whole western Arctic region. Learn the story of the Mad Trapper of Rat River, and find out what a pingo is. Pick up a signed and witnessed Certificate of the Arctic Circle Chapter, Order of Adventurers, for crossing the Arctic Circle. You've made it this far - you deserve one! |

Inuvik is the meeting place of the Inuvialuit & Gwich'in peoples, who have lived in the western Arctic for thousands of years. It is located at the mouth of the Mackenzie River Delta, largest river delta north of the Arctic Circle in North America, and some 6200 square kilometers in area. Discover where you can see musk ox, polar bear, and Barren Ground caribou. |
