Today is the last day of the first-ever week-long Naka Festival. The Yellowknives Dene First Nation are concluding the week’s events with a cultural gala at the Chief Drygeese Centre featuring a fashion show, live music, traditional food and a sneak peek of the Hamlet’s first Artisan Shop.
They save the best until last. The final day of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada’s annual exchange in Toronto featured the Unlocking Our Potential Invest NWT event.
Presented collaboratively with the NWT & Nunavut Chamber of Mines, the half-day spotlight offered delegates an update on the NWT’s mineral development sector, new geological research and related infrastructure investments.
Included in the joint federal/territorial announcement of funding at PDAC this week a $3.4 million investment in high-resolution airborne geophysical survey bedrock and surficial mapping program. The survey will be flown over large underexplored areas of the SGP at a scale that will make it possible to find indicators of previously undiscovered mineral deposits.
