Students in the North Slave Region once again benefited this week from a program aimed at educating young Canadians about geoscience and mining.

The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s (ITI) Client Service and Community Relations (CSCR) division sponsored the Mining Matters team to visit schools in both Yellowknife, N’Dilo, Dettah and Behchoko to help increase awareness and public education on the NWT’s most important economic sector.

Mining Matters is a charitable organization dedicated to bringing knowledge and awareness about Canada’s geology and mineral resources to students, educators and the public.

The GNWT has partnered with the group for more than two years.
