Overview
The Small Arts Project Grant provides $500 to $5,000 in funding for small-scale arts projects to emerging and mid-career artists, craftspeople, groups and organizations.
This grant supports a wide range of arts activities, including creation, production, presentation, exhibition, training and artistic development in the following disciplines:
- Dance
- Digital art
- Fashion
- Literary arts
- Film and media arts
- Multidisciplinary art
- Music and sound
- Theatre arts
- Visual arts and crafts
- Other
For slightly larger projects, consider applying for the Medium Arts Project Grant.
Available Funding
Applicants can apply for $500 to $5,000 per project.
Funding is assessed on a first-come, first-served basis until the annual budget is exhausted.
Deadline
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis from April 1 to March 31 each year.
Eligibility
- Individuals who have been a resident of the NWT for at least 6 months prior to applying and are living in the NWT at the time of application.
- Organizations registered with NWT Corporate Registries and in good standing.
- You can only apply for one project at a time -- a funded project must be completed and reported before you can apply again.
- All overdue reporting must be submitted and accepted before applying for new funding.
Preference will be given to applications that use NWT resources and services.
How to apply
It is strongly recommended that you contact your regional ITI office to discuss your project before applying.
- Before you apply, review the application guidelines.
- Download and complete the Small Arts Project Grant application form.
- Prepare your supporting documents:
- Samples of work (1-2 sound/video clips of 5 minutes or less, 1-2 writing samples of 5 pages or less, or images that showcase your work).
- Documentation for artistic development projects (e.g., invitation, registration info).
- Copies of quotes (NWT quotes encouraged).
- Proof of NWT residency (e.g., driver's license, letter from band).
- Submit your completed application and supporting documents to your regional ITI office.
This program has a reporting requirement. You must provide financial reporting within 60 days of completing the project, including your actual costs and revenues and the reporting survey.
