Kylik Kisoun of Tundra North Tours’ hard work was recognized on a national scale this year when he won the 2019 National Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneur Award.

Since 2006, Kylik has been running his business that blends Gwich'in and Inuvialuit culture with his tourism operations and guides Beaufort Delta visitors on adventures of a lifetime.

The Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business, a national association that supports Indigenous people and businesses, recognized his efforts and awarded him a $10,000 prize.

Kylik’s values — hard work, determination and authenticity — is what got him this award. His operation sets a high bar for tourism in the Beaufort Delta.

Recently, Kylik, other NWT operators and Northwest Territories Tourism took part in a trade mission to China, expanding his brand on a global scale.

Like many other businesses in the North, Tundra North Tours has taken advantage of the many GNWT programs offered by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs like Kylik, to encourage even more excellence in the NWT’s growing tourism industry.
