Tonight, with the red carpet rolled out, lights dimmed and the smell of freshly-popped popcorn wafting through the Capitol Theatre, the 12th Annual Yellowknife International Film Festival will kick off.

Running from September 26 – 30, the annual event festivities are hosted by Western Arctic Moving Pictures in partnership the NWT Professional Media Association through support from the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s (ITI) NWT Film Commission and other funders.

The festival has grown from humble beginnings to nearly a full week of film screenings, Q&A with actors, networking events and professional development workshops. Workshops this year include Acting for Youth; How to Pitch Toolkit; Distribution, Promotions and Packaging for Short Films, Features and Web Content; and 360 Video Production with Full Circle Visuals.
