2022 NWT Parks and Campground Opening Dates

Yellowknife — April 4, 2022

Northwest Territories Parks and Campgrounds will open beginning May 13, 2022. 

This year online reservations are being accepted as of: 

  • April 5 at 10:00 am - Prelude Lake campground 
  • April 6 at 10:00 am - Reid Lake campground
  • April 7 at 10:00 am - Fred Henne campground  
  • April 8 at 10:00 am - all campgrounds 


Campsites at the following campgrounds are not available for booking through the online reservation system, but on a first come, first served basis at the gatehouse:

  • Nataiinlaii Territorial Park
  • Gwich'in Territorial Park - Vadzaih Van Tshik Campground
  • Gwich'in Territorial Park - Gwich'in Territorial Park Campground
  • Little Buffalo River Crossing Territorial Park


Campground Opening Dates

  • Campgrounds in the Beaufort Delta:  May 19
  • The MacKinnon Territorial Park in the Sahtu: May 15
  • Campgrounds in the North and South Slave: May 13 
  • Campgrounds in the Dehcho: May 20 (with the exception of Blackstone Territorial Park, which opens June 3)  

 
Depending on conditions, the Kakisa Day Use and Little Buffalo River Falls Day Use areas may be available for camping at an earlier date. Sites are available on a first come, first served basis.
