Advancing the Tourism Profession in the NWT

NWT students enrolled in a full time, post-secondary in Tourism and Hospitality program are encouraged to apply for the Northwest Territories Tourism scholarship.

The $1,500.00 scholarship is awarded annually to an individual in an accredited program who is planning to work in the NWT tourism sector after their studies are completed.

Northwest Territories Tourism (NWTT) is a not-for-profit organization with a membership of close to 200 tourism business and operators from across the NWT.   Under a funding contribution, it serves as the NWT’s Destination Marketing Organization and is responsible for marketing and promoting the NWT tourism product locally, nationally and internationally. 

In support of the GNWT’s commitment to increased economic diversification, the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is promoting the growth of the NWT’s tourism sector through the implementation of its Tourism 2020 strategy which includes actions to develop and support the tourism workforce in the NWT.
