The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment’s Film Commission is proud to recognize and celebrate this film about: Chamaè, a young warrior, is trying to survive nuclear winter in a post-apocalyptic future while being both hunted by raiders and haunted by her past.

Using locations like North Arm Park, Kam Lake, Old Town, Rat Lake and the Sand Pits, Director Mason Mantla created a post-apocalyptic world in his made-for-the-Dead North Festival Film.

Mantla, from Behchokǫ̀, took home not only the new Best NWT Film Location Award but the Zombear for Best Director!  The awards ceremony took place Saturday, March 3rd at the Top Knight and was live streamed for those who were unable to attend.

It was noted by the committee, tasked with determining a winner, that Mantla’s film used the locations in ways that enhanced the storyline, captured many different backgrounds and scenes that used locations creatively.

NWT Film looks forward to continuing its celebration of intrepid filmmakers who will allow the world to see NWT locations through their lens and in doing so help promote the NWT’s unique setting and landscapes.
