It’s finally time to take off your parkas and boots, but don’t take off your face mask quite yet.  While we are all emerging wisely and extending our COVID-bubbles to the NWT Parks this weekend, campers are reminded that we are still an active global pandemic.

Above all, campers are asked to stay home if: sick; have been asked by a healthcare professional to isolate; or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19.

Here are a few simple actions that can help protect yourself, your family and your friends.

What to bring with you:

  • A personal cleaning kit: hand sanitizer, wash basin, disinfectant cleaner to clean shared surfaces and a table cloth.

Staying safe at your Campsite:

  • Bring cleaning supplies to disinfect campsite spaces like the picnic table
  • Encourage everyone to wash hands or use hand-santitizer regularly
  • Camp with people you normally live with (Only one camping unit per site)
  • Maintain a distance of 2 meters to campsite visitors

Saying safe at boat launches:

  • Stay in your vehicle while waiting to use the boat launch;
  • Maintain your 2 meter distance between others;
  • Avoid boating with others not in your family circle

Staying safe at playgrounds or beaches:

  • Beaches are limited to a maximum of 50 or less at this time.
  • Take a look: if it looks like the maximum # of people is reached, come back another time
  • Children under 12 years under are not required to physically distance during outside play, but should try to avoid contact with others outside their friendship circle
