Ever wondered how a birch bark basket is created? Want to paint the perfect aurora scene? Take a step to realizing your artistic ambitions at the Art in the Park event this weekend in Fort Simpson.
The festivities will take place at Liidlii Kue Fort Simpson Park on Saturday, September 8.
Join in on arts and crafts demonstrations and workshops from 1:00-4:00pm and a free BBQ from 4:00 – 6:00pm while enjoying live music by KIWI North.
The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is proud to support this event, helping NWT artists to market their work and supporting their business potential.
In 2016/17, ITI provided over $1.6 million in funding to artists, including $250,000 invested regionally to support specific arts and crafts projects. The arts continue to be an important sector in attracting tourists, preserving culture and promoting economic diversification.
