Has COVID-19 affected your staffing? Have you had to find alternative ways to get your goods to your customers? Have your revenues been impacted? The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) wants to hear about your business experiences during the pandemic.

As of May 1st, over 140 survey responses have already been received, covering all regions and economic sectors. Thank you!

In an effort to reach as many businesses as possible, ITI is working with a number of partners to administer the survey including: the NWT Chamber of Commerce, NWT and Nunavut Chamber of Mines, NWT Tourism, the NWT Manufacturing Association, NWT Construction Association and CDÉTNO (Conseil de développement économique des Territoires du Nord-Ouest).

The business survey is one of three that will be conducted to better understand the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on NWT businesses; and what supports and measures will be needed to support economic recovery.

Tourism Survey

In March a sector-specific survey of the NWT’s tourism industry was conducted. The data collected is currently being analyzed and will inform GNWT decisions specific to businesses involved in the territory’s tourism sector.

Consumer Survey

 A consumer survey is also in development and will be released in coming weeks. It will ensure balanced data covering both economic supply and demand; and contribute to a fulsome understanding of our territory’s current economy status.
