The Government of the Northwest Territories is gathering public feedback on proposed amendments to the Territorial Parks Regulations (TPR).

The proposed changes address safety, environmental, administrative, and technical improvements that have been identified in the ongoing operation of NWT parks.

They include: the clarification of existing fee structures, the addition of minimum age requirements for camping permits, definitional clarifications and the addition of more flexible operational language.

The most significant proposed update relates to the operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on territorial park roadways.  It will require campers operating ATVs to hold a driver’s license or be under the immediate supervision of someone with a valid license.

NWT residents have until Sept 9th, 2022 to submit written feedback through the engagement page found at: haveyoursay.nwt-tno.ca/nwt-parks-regulations-amendments
