The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) has released its 2021-2022 Grants and Contributions Report.
$26.1 million in financial support (including $8.2 million in GNWT and federal supports related to COVID-19 pandemic) was provided to 721 individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, governments, and groups across the NWT last (fiscal) year.
ITI provided $6.3 million in funding to Northwest Territories Tourism and the NWT Business Development and Investment Corporation.
Almost a third of grants and contributions went to communities outside of Yellowknife, Hay River, Inuvik and Fort Smith.
Contributions for business services under the Support for Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) program accounted for 37 per cent of the Department’s overall grants and contributions.
Tourism-related businesses and initiatives accounted for 42 per cent of total grants and contributions.
ITI administered 28 separate funding programs in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
