ITI Salutes Business Resilience Winners

The Department of ITI would like to congratulate all of businesses nominated for a 2021 Business Resilience Award from the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce.

Seventy-eight nominations across 10 award categories were received to recognize businesses that have demonstrated their ability to quickly adapt and respond to disruptions in the face of the global pandemic.

Award winners include Det’on Cho Management as 2021’s Resilient Large Business of the Year and Piercings by Haylee J as the Resilient Small Business of the Year award.

Other winners include: 

  • Indigenous Entrepreneurship Resiliency Award – ArTech Engrave
  • Customer Service Award of Excellence – Weaver and Devore
  • Community Impact Award – Dragon Toner Law Office
  • Resilient New Business Award – AnyTime Fitness
  • Resilient Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award –  PH8 Beauty Boutique
  • Workplace Health and Safety Award – Bella Dance Academy
  • Resilient Women in Business Award – Blunt YK
  • Innovation Award of Excellence – Copperhouse Eatery and Lounge

In a media statement recognizing Small Business Week Minister Caroline Wawzonek saluted local businesses across the NWT who have responded decisively to the swift changes in their markets, pivoting and adapting their models to keep NWT residents safe while continuing to serve their communities.

“Owners of these businesses are our family members, friends and neighbours, and they help to diversify and stabilize our economy while training and employing residents in our communities,” she said.

Grants and contributions delivered through the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment support a wide range of clients and initiatives in tourism, fishing, manufacturing, agriculture, the resource sector, arts and film; and the traditional and knowledge economies.
