Every year, qualified travel buyers come together at Rendez-vous Canada (RVC), our country’s signature international tourism tradeshow, to explore and partner with Canadian tourism professionals to market and sell Canada with confidence.
For decision makers and representatives of Canada’s tourism industry, it is an essential industry meet-up to stimulate collaboration, share new ideas and boast their destinations to national and international travel buyers.
With almost 2,000 attendees, over 580 sellers representing 13 Canadian provinces and territories and more than 620 industry buyers from 29 countries around the world, the event highlights just how competitive the global tourism industry has become.
It is one of the tools that has contributed to the growth in national and international visitation to the Northwest Territories in recent years.
Rendez-vous takes place this week in Toronto and the NWT’s spectacular tourism destinations and products are, once again, well represented. ITI’s Director of Tourism and Parks and team members from Northwest Territories Tourism will be networking and promoting the territory strategically to travel buyers from places like Germany, Mexico, Japan and China.

In 2017-18, for the first time, over 110,000 visitors travelled to the NWT with spending totaling just over $203 million in the process.
These numbers represent continued improvements in the tourism sector after an extraordinary 2016/2017 fiscal year. They have put the NWT on the right path to reach the target set in Tourism 2020 — the GNWT’s five-year strategy for tourism development — and for increasing the NWT tourism industry’s value to $207 million by 2021.
