Northern agriculture pioneer, France Benoit, welcomed ITI Minister Schumann and MLA Vanthuyne to Le Refuge Farm today. In addition to touring the garden grounds, Minister Schumann and MLA Vanthuyne discussed with France the potential for agriculture in the Northwest Territories, the work being done by the Yellowknife Farmer’s Market, and the commercial opportunities for local food production in the North Slave.

The Northwest Territories’ (NWT) agriculture sector received great news on July 21 as the territorial government entered into a multi-lateral agriculture partnership. The Canadian Agricultural Partnership, (previous agreement called Growing Forward 2), will go into effect on April 1, 2018.

The Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS) is a division of the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) that provides geoscience knowledge to governments, industry, and the public. The division also help to inform decisions concerning the responsible development of mineral and energy resources, land use, and environmental stewardship.
