Even before the curtain rises and the stage comes to life, theatre goers are being immersed in an artistic experience that extends into the lobby of the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre (NACC).
It is here that NWT Arts is partnering with NACC to showcase visual artists of the NWT.
Open to both emerging and established artists, the art on display in the Centre’s lobby is available for purchase at the NACC box office with a portion of the profits generated targeted for community performances and programs. Participating artists are all registered with the NWT Arts Program, which provides professional displays and promotional materials to help market their artwork.
“The NWT Arts Program offers marketing assistance to both artists and arts organizations”, notes NWT Arts Program Manager, Johanna Tiemessen, “Our services are meant to help raise the profile and the value of art made in the NWT.”
A new visual artist will be featured every month. The NWT Arts program will provide promotional materials to the artist including publicity photos, business cards and promotional flat sheets. Profile pages are also established on nwtarts.com for each artist with information on their art and where it can be purchased or commissioned.
By creating more opportunities for NWT artists to display their work, and supporting community arts organizations, ITI, through NWT Arts, is increasing the visibility of our talented local artists and contributing to the economic growth and development of the NWT’s arts sector.
