This is National Drowning Prevention Week, a week dedicated to increasing public awareness of drowning prevention in order to improve the public's ability to prevent water-related injury and death.

With the increased water activity that summer months bring, the need for water safety is incredibly important. The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment encourages those who participate in water activities, such as boating and swimming, to do so in as safe a manner as possible.

Between July  18th and the 24th come to the public beach at Fred Henne Territorial park to learn some valuable water safety lessons from beach attendants and parks officers. The attendants and officers will be at the beach during operating hours to answer questions, while providing information and training; and handing out prizes for the kids participating in events.

Make this summer a safe one and learn the skills to enjoy a lifetime of fun on the water.
