NWT Film would like to congratulate the six NWT producers chosen to participate in the program:

  • Copper Quartz Media – Caroline Cox
  • CuRiouS CoNNectionS – Miranda Currie
  • Gyrfalcon Films – Jerri Thrasher
  • Tipishkum Productions Inc. – Heather Heinrichs & Sadetło Scott
  • Walden Paint Studio – Jennifer Walden

The NCPA will work closely with established organizations, professionals and producers across the north to customize its program and ensure it is best positioned to address each of the participants’ unique needs.

The program has the unique distinction of being the first of its kind to be jointly supported by six national Canadian broadcasters and funders: APTN, Bell Media, Blue Ant Media, CBC, Corus Entertainment, and Rogers Group of Funds, all of whom are co-sponsors of the first cohort.

The Northern Canada Producer Accelerator is exactly the kind of opportunity that NWT’s producers have said they needed. The GNWT’s film strategy Rolling, Action! The Next 5 Years: NWT Film and Media Sector Strategy and Action Plan 2021-2026 highlights the actions needed to develop producers’ professional skills, strengthen their businesses, and leverage pan-territorial networks for new opportunities; all of which the NCPA is designed to do.

In addition to the Northwest Territories Film Commission (NWTFilm) the NCPA is supported by the Northwest Territories Professional Media Association (NWTPMA). Partial funding for this program is also being provided by Northwestel and the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor).
