Niagara Falls for NWT Arts at Canada Summer Games

Niagara Falls welcomed NWT artists and their creative wares at the 13 for 13 Festival associated with the 2022 Canada Summer Games.

5 NWT artists displayed their creativity at the afternoon Arts Market:

Catherine Blondin: Traditional beadwork artist from Sahtuotine (Sahtu Dene) from Liidli Kue (Fort Simpson).

 

Genevieve Clarke: From Enterprise, NT, Combines Beadwork and painting.

 

Jonathan Gillingham: a Norman Wells- based photographer who captures NWT landscapes, skyscapes and wildlife on film. (Photo by Charles Vandersluys)

 

Jessica McVicker: A contemporary painter living in Yellowknife who paints the NWT with a fresh set of eyes.

 

James Wedzin: A painter from North Slave who creates wonderful Northern Canadian landscapes and animal imagery.

 

The evening began with a multi-media experience! William Greenland, James Wedzin, James Shawana, and Leona Skye collaborated to tell a story with flute, spoken word and live painting.

 

To end the evening, Juno Award recipient, Leela Gilday, performed with her finale being lit by fireworks over the Falls.
