As COVID-19 related restrictions on gatherings are eased, and NWT Parks set to open for the 2020 season, many NWT residents are planning to spend extra time camping this summer.

To encourage and reward “staycationing” and the recommended use of the GNWT’s online campground reservation system, the Department of Industry Tourism and Investment is offering a free night stay for every five constitutive camping nights booked on line.

Computer-generated coupons are being e-mailed to residents to be applied to their next booking.  Almost 1,300 coupons were e-mailed to NWT campers during this summer’s first days of online reservations.

While its application and distribution has been intensified this summer, the Camping Coupon itself is not new.  Every year ITI Parks officers and campground attendants give these coupons to individuals, community groups and non-profit organizations as rewards, donation of support and tokens of good will. This practice will continue.
