The Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI) has been working closely with our destination marketing organization, the Northwest Territories Tourism (NWTT), and directly with tour operators to make sure that they are aware of the health precautions and steps they need to be taking in response to COVID-19.
We will continue to work with NWTT to help the NWT tourism industry respond to health advisories – territorial and federal – to help visitors navigate this situation and get home safely. This includes NWTT sending regular updates to close to 200 industry tourism businesses operating in the NWT and to over 200 international and national level trade partners.
Information provided directly to tour operators includes:
- March 15th Public Health Advisory: Returning International Travelers and International Visitors
- International Visitors Advisory Handout For Tour and Hotel Operators
- Self-Isolation Information sheet
- COVID-19 Self-Monitoring Handout
Information will continue to be sent out directly to tourism operators in the coming days as this situation progresses. We are committed to working together to support our tourism industry during this time.
We all have a civic duty to follow the health advisories and precautions of the Chief Public Health Officer of the NWT, especially now that the NWT has declared a public health state of emergency.
