There is still time to submit your application for the Tourism Business Mentorship Program (TBMP).

The Northwest Territories is home to a growing tourism industry that requires a skilled and dedicated workforce. Established by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI), the TBMP has two streams available, one for individuals and one for groups or communities.

Opportunities and resources are available for interested NWT tourism operators (Mentees) to learn from suitable mentors.  This experience can be an important element contributing to an operator’s success.  Operators can gain valuable skills in business, leadership and networking that can help maximize their potential to succeed as a profitable and independent business in the NWT.

ITI has partnered with the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO), a leading economic development organization, to help match mentees to mentors in our individual operators stream (Stream 1).

Under Stream 2, groups of tourism operators, or community tourism project managers, can observe and learn about tourism operation best practices at identified established tourism businesses.

The GNWT provides employment support and training to foster positive economic growth across the NWT.  The TBMP helps strengthen the NWT’s tourism offerings and provides opportunities for NWT tourism business operators.  This, in turn, helps facilitate the transfer of knowledge from more experienced professionals to new or younger entrepreneurs.

TBMP was identified as a good way to support the development and support of the tourism workforce in the Tourism 2020 investment strategy.
