Win Your Space YK is back by popular demand; and, with its mandate to support small businesses, the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is pleased to be a funding partner in the City of Yellowknife-led initiative.
Aimed at supporting the revitalization of Yellowknife’s downtown, Win Your Space YK is a business-incubation competition encouraging entrepreneurs from Yellowknife, Dettah and N'dilo to start or expand business interests backed with one year of free leased space in downtown Yellowknife.
Judges will select up to 10 submissions to enter the competition. These semi-finalists will participate in free business development workshops, including business plan writing and financial management; and receive tips and training on how to pitch their final business ideas.
Five finalists will be chosen from this process to pitch their business plans to a jury in a Dragon's-Den style event.
The Grand Prize winner will be able to choose their location from the list of participating spaces in Yellowknife and given the opportunity to qualify for up to $10,000 in start-up money, under the Business Development and Investment Corporation (BDIC)’s Business Development Project Fund.
