The 47th Yellowknife Geoscience Forum is just around the corner. This year’s show will run November 19th– 21st.

Each year, the Government of the Northwest Territories teams up with the NWT and Nunavut Chamber of Mines to bring industry together with government to network and share ideas – and to celebrate what makes the Northwest Territories leaders in mining, exploration, and geoscience research.

Close to 100 presenters are lined up to share their research, ideas, and updates from the world of geoscience, mining, and exploration.

The list of 2019 topics includes:

  • Community Engagement and Education
  • Diamond Geology & Exploration
  • Energy in Canada's North
  • Environmental Monitoring & Research
  • Geoscience and Exploration
  • Mining Updates
  • Regulatory & Policy Updates
  • Thawing Permafrost

Presentations are complemented by a slate of events and workshops. Some highlights include:

  • The Charles Camsell Talk – November 20 7:30-9:30pm, Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre

This year’s public event will feature Dr. Grant Zazula — a Yukon scientist specializing in studying Northern fossils. The event will be livestreamed on ITI’s Facebook page.

  • 3rd Annual Mining and Exploration Awards Gala — November 21

This annual celebratory event includes the MAX awards recognizing excellence in Northwest Territories mining. Nominations are still being accepted. Click here for more information and to share your nomination in one-of-five categories.
