NWT students and young professionals interested in learning more about the tourism industry still have time to apply for the Youth Mentorship for Tourism Program.

The deadline for applications is Monday, April 24 at 5:00pm.

The program, offered by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment (ITI), is designed to pair mentees with experienced industry professionals to learn about the industry.

There are two program streams:

  • Stream 1: This Industry Awareness stream will help improve the mentees’ understanding and experience within the tourism industry (mentorship period can be no shorter than three months).
  • Stream 2: This Path to Employment stream provides mentees with opportunities to learn specific skills in an area of their choice with the goal of employment at the mentor’s place of business.

Mentees and mentors are encouraged to apply together, but if mentees need help finding mentors, ITI’s Regional Tourism Operators are happy to provide assistance.

ITI recognizes the value of mentorship to ensure the NWT has the skilled workforce needed to support our thriving tourism industry. The Youth Mentorship in Tourism Program supports the goal of Tourism 2020 to develop a sustainable, professional and trained workforce.
