Business Intelligence and Networking (SEED)

Looking to get ahead in your industry with cutting-edge ideas and new contacts? This program can connect you with the conferences, tradeshows, and seminars you need to build your business.

These investments are provided under the Support for Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) Policy.

It is strongly recommended that you contact your regional Economic Development Officer to discuss your idea prior to the development of your proposal.

Who is eligible?

  • NWT residents
  • NWT businesses


Under the Business Intelligence and Networking program, up to $8,000 per year per resident or business in support can be provided for:

  • Event fees
  • Standard Accommodations
  • Lowest available airfare
    • If you choose to drive, costs will be allocated based on the GNWT’s private vehicle rate and accommodation costs.
    • Driving costs cannot exceed that of the lowest available airfare.

Funds are NOT to be used for:

  • Per Diem, incidentals, honorariums, or salaries

A maximum of $8000 per year per resident or business is available. Trip costs must exceed $1500 per individual; with a maximum assistance of $4000 per individual per trip for as many as two residents.

Equity requirements

Equity requirements for Business Intelligence and Networking support are as follows:

  • Minimum of $1000 allocated towards eligible costs for travel outside the Northwest Territories.
  • Minimum of $500 allocated towards the eligible costs for travel within the Northwest Territories.

Outside of Equity requirements, there are no other costs or fees associated with this program.

Required Documents

Applicants are required to submit:

  • Short description of the trade show or seminar – include: budget, benefits and schedule
  • Any other relevant information related to the proposal. This may include what is requested by the regional panel for evaluation and recommendation purposes.

Other information may be requested. Speak with your regional Economic Development Officer about specific proposal requirements and evaluation criteria; funding limits, equity requirements and specific purposes to which funding can be applied.

    How to apply

    To apply for Business Intelligence and Networking funding, download the application form below and contact your regional Industry Tourism and Investment office to book an appointment to speak with an Economic Development Officer. Please include all required documents along with your application, or your application will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
