Large Arts Project Fund

Overview

The Large Arts Project Fund provides $15,000 to $100,000 in funding for NWT arts organizations to carry out large-scale arts activities.


This funding supports the costs of delivering a large project -- paying coordinators, northern artist fees, venue and equipment rentals, materials and supplies -- in the following disciplines:

  • Dance
  • Digital art
  • Fashion
  • Literary arts
  • Film and media arts
  • Multidisciplinary art
  • Music and sound
  • Theatre arts
  • Visual arts and crafts
  • Other

Available funding

Organizations can apply for between $15,000 and $100,000 per project. Meeting eligibility does not guarantee funding.


Eligible expenses include artist, performer and teaching fees; materials, supplies and exhibition costs; equipment and venue rental fees; coordination fees; and travel directly related to the project.


This funding does not cover operational expenses, major tools/electronics/equipment and other capital costs, administration fees to pay board members, costs already covered under other GNWT funding programs, general non-artistic activities at receptions or festivals, or GST/HST/PST.

Deadline

The intake deadline for this program is: April 21.

Eligibility

Organizations must meet all of the following:

  • Registered and in good standing under the NWT Societies Act, with a mandate to support the arts, and in existence for at least one year prior to the deadline
  • At least one funded Medium Arts Project Grant completed and reported, or a comparable history of activity in the arts sector
  • All reporting on prior funded projects must be up to date

Preference will be given to applications that use NWT resources and services.

How to apply

  1. Before you apply, review the application guidelines.
  2. Download and complete the Large Arts Project Fund application form using the templates provided.
  3. Prepare your required supporting documents: 
    • Two signed letters of support from stakeholders.
    • Proof of $1 million liability insurance. 
    • Proof of WSCC compliance (if you have employees). 
    • Organization background including Board of Directors list. 
    • Your most recent annual report, strategic plan or similar documents.
  4. Submit your completed application and supporting documents before the deadline.

Applications must be approved before beginning the activity. Costs incurred before approval will not be covered.


This program has a reporting requirement. You must provide financial reporting using the templates provided after the completion of the project.
