Aboriginal Tourism Champions Program Now Accepting Applications

Aboriginal cultural tourism continues to intrigue visitors in the Northwest Territories and leave them moved, inspired and informed.

 

The Aboriginal Tourism Champions (ATC) Program is one of the ways the Department of Industry, Tourism and Investment is working to grow and support this vibrant part of our tourism industry. The Program is accepting applications until June 12, 2018.

We are looking for applicants who will help their communities develop Aboriginal tourism initiatives, expand the number of authentic Aboriginal tourism products available and foster development of new Aboriginal tourism businesses.

 

A contribution of up to $5,000 per Champion is available to help them perform their duties.

Supporting Aboriginal cultural tourism is a major component of Tourism 2020 and the ATC Program is part of the work underway to respectfully share Aboriginal culture, grow capacity and preserve culture and heritage. Tourism 2020’s overarching goal is to increase visitor spending to $207M annually by 2021.
