In one of the more popular engagement opportunities at this year’s AME Round Up, industry executives met face to face with NWT elected representatives and officials Tuesday - but only for a limited time. In a format akin to "speed dating" networking windows were timed and when the clock ran out on one meeting, the NWT delegation would move on - and with a new round of handshakes and pleasantries, new talks would begin.
NWT representatives were spread throughout the luncheon event to meet and connect with as many new investors, or exploration companies as possible.
Three themes were identified to start discussions: Strengthening partnerships and sharing the benefits of mining throughout the territory; Innovative solutions to ongoing challenges; and A strong voice for mining.
For the many industry representatives looking to make themselves known to the NWT, it was also a chance to connect with leaders and senior officials from both territorial and indigenous governments. For the NWT’s Premier, Ministers, MLAs and Indigenous government representatives, it was an opportunity to answer questions, increase industry understanding of the NWT's investment climate and demonstrate a united support for new development.
Minister Wally Schumann set the stage for the luncheon, sponsored by NWT Premier Bob McLeod.
